Q. Why won't my computer recognize the hard drive as a drive letter or go to the Add New Hardware Wizard?

Make sure that you have attached the IDE ribbon with the red edge to Pin 1 of the drive. Next make sure that you have the power connector connected to the drive.

For all hard drives (except Western Digital) make sure that your jumper setting is set to Master. For Western Digital drives leave the jumper setting to the factory default.
